Paintings by Judy Windham Cooper

JUDY WINDHAM COOPER is a self-taught artist, born in
Alabama and took to art as soon as she was able to hold
a crayon. Throughout her childhood, she developed an
appreciation for her majestic surroundings on the large
farm where she lived. She would wander the pastures,
woods, lakes and barns for hours injesting the forms,
colors and shadows. These landscapes as well as the
horses, livestock and other wildlife often show up in her
paintings. She would often sit in trees for hours with
watercolor pencils and pad, or sit in a meadow by a lake
with paints and canvas. Years of artistic expression
made it clear that Judy's life would be centered upon her
passion for art.
After general studies, Judy studied art on her own,
painting for those who inspired her, giving all her
paintings away as gifts. Everyone encouraged her to
keep painting -and forget all other interests and hobbies,
and eventually, she did.
After several careers - coordinating the nationally
televised Blue-Gray All Star Football game for five years,
serving as business manager and social director of
Wynlakes Golf and Country Club, moving on as director
of the Arthritis Foundation, and then to director of
membership for the SE Alabama Girl Scouts, (recruiting
6,000 girls and 1,500 volunteers) she finally gave in to
her true passion.
Judy is now a professional artist full-time. She lives in
Pike Road, AL with her husband , and Sherlock, their
"almost human" toy poodle.
